Meeting My Spirit Guide

This is the story of how I first connected, consciously, to my main guide. I hesitate to call him a ‘spirit guide’ even though he is not physical, at least not now – and he feels more like a friend than a ‘guide’ although he does guide me, or at least keeps me on the straight and narrow. He resides in the realms we all come from, the world of the soul. Home.

My first meeting with him happened when I did a meditation to meet my guide back in the early nineties. Like most people starting out, or who have never known who their guide was, I wanted to know too. I had been developing psychically for a couple of years, and had become a Reiki healer. My focus at that time was to connect with my soul so many of my meditations began with making that connection. When you first learn to work with your soul, you know you’ll only to get the right information because you have developed that channel.

Having got myself into the right depth of meditation, I asked my guide to show him/herself. At first nothing happened, then a grizzly bear appeared in my vision. It was standing beside a woodland on four feet.

OK, I thought. Maybe my guide is a bear. But then the bear stood up on two legs and I realised he was giving me a message. But I wasn’t getting it. So he did it again. Then I understood. But as usual, I gave my guide more status than he was comfortable with. At the time, I thought guides were somehow far superior to us mere humans, so I thought his name was ‘Great Standing Bear’.

His response? ‘No, it is just Standing Bear.’ Said in a voice of humility and grace.

For a few years, following that first conscious contact, he often arrived as a bear, and gave me bear-related messages. Such as one message where he opened his furry skin right down his middle and pulled me into it. It felt womb-like and safe and I knew he was giving me his protection. And I needed it. I was starting my healing journey, on a conscious level, and it was traumatic. To say the least.

But then things shifted and often, while lying in bed, preparing to sleep, I began to receive visions. A first nations warrior appeared in front of me, on his horse, telling me to climb up behind him. Together we rode across the plains to a lone teepee. I dismounted and was told to enter it.

A large fire lit up the interior and around it sat a circle of elders. My guide sat at the other side of the fire, at the twelve o’ clock position. I was instructed to sit at the one o’clock postion and then I had to do certain things. Sometimes, I was told to throw things into the fire, or I was given information, or a peace pipe, which meant I had to lay something to rest.

When the ceremony was finished, the other warrior would take me home, and then I could fall asleep.

This happened on a number of occasions over the years but each time, I noticed how my postion in the circle of elders changed. I was moving around the circle and soon was at the six o’clock position.

One night, I was taken to the teepee as usual, but this time as I entered, I saw Standing Bear clearly. He said to me, very loudly, from across the fire: “BLACK ELK SPEAKS“. Even though this was only a vision, it shocked me out of the vision space and I couldn’t find my way back to it.

For days afterwards I wondered what the message meant and then forgot all about it. We didn’t have the internet then so I couldn’t look it up online.

Then one day, a year later, I was in Waterstones book shop, when I suddenly asked the man behind the counter, ‘Have you ever hear of Black Elk Speaks?’

‘Yes,’ he replied. ‘We have a copy here.’ And he went to one of the shelves and picked out a book. On the cover were the words Black Elk Speaks. Once again, I was stunned. A book! I paid for it and brought it home, still shocked. It was as if my inner reality had met my waking reality and the collision had caused an earthquake.

The aftershocks were even bigger. In the book, there were photos of Standing Bear! MY Standing Bear! He had been a real, physical person and had only died a couple of decades before my own birth.

It took me weeks to get to grips with that. How could that be?

Once again, my understanding of what spirit guides really were was shifting, seismically.

I discovered that he had also been a writer and he wrote books about his childhood on the plains. He had also been a movie actor and had been part of Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show. And he had even come to England. To say my mind was thoroughly blown would be an understatement. Incidentally, my Maternal grandmother’s surname was Coady and my Mother always told us we were related to Buffalo Bill. She had a wonderful imagination. But, in hindsight, it feels like it served as a reminder, a hint to remember that my soul could pick up on.

But slowly, it all began to make sense. Why, when I was a child, I thought I was born into the wrong body and should have been a Native American boy with black hair. Why I was obsessed with plains indians until my twenties, reading everything I could and getting angry at the way reservations were run and exploited. I’d even picked out future children’s names in the sioux language and had memories about sacred objects. For instance, when my children were born, I kept that little part of the umbilical that eventually drops off so I could put it in a bag for them for when they grew up. I knew exactly what that meant. It would be their medicine. I never actually did it, but I still have some of them.

Your guides are part of your consciousness. Their energy is so close to you, especially when you are younger, that you can feel like you are them. Their energy is so much a part of you. I noticed the same thing with an african guide when I first left home at nineteen. I became very interested in different tribes in Africa for a few years. Many years later, I discovered this African’s name. Mabusu. He is a zulu warrior, and my protector. He appears often when I need certain types of protection. I have had a number of African guides, both male and female throughout my life.

But no guide had ever blown me away quite like Standing Bear. As much as I am very grafteful to my Zulu guide for always being there. Although meeting Red Feather was also a huge surprise.

I ‘grew out of’ my Native American (First Nations) obsession in my twenties when I became a mother and I developed something of a more psychic need. But when I ended up in the UK and began my psychic development, I often heard a name come into my head. I thought it was ‘Kunta Kinte’, from the series ROOTS. Even though I heard this many times, it never seemed to mean anything significant. I looked for the meaning, watched Roots again, but gleaned nothing from it.

Until I read Standing Bear’s book. When he was a child, his name was Óta Kté. He had been giving me his name for years before I finally made contact with him. Preparing me.

My teepee visits continued until one night, when I entered the Teepee, I was at Ten O’ Clock. Standing Bear told me that I was nearly ready to sit beside him. When I did, I would have reached the place he too had reached and would be ready for the next phase.

Whatever that would be.

I eventually did because I never needed to visit the teepee again. Now I was ready to be my own guide, even though he has always been by my side and pops in when I need him. Especially when I am going through challenging growth. Now the teepee has come to represent growth and development, emotional, mental and spiritual, and is one of the energy symbols you can receive in an attunement. So much is tied into that symbol.

One of the things I am aware of from Standing Bear’s incarnation is his ability to adapt. He had to manage the changes the white man brought. He had his own native life stripped away and given a new name, Luther. He had his hair cut off and learned to read and write. He lived a very different life to what he had grown up with.. But he managed those changes. He adapted and made his life a success. He found a way.

I imagine that, as my guide, he was also helping me with similar challenges. I have also had to adapt to shifting sands in my life and to grow rather than remain in resentment about changes forced on me as a child. And, because I also write, I’m sure his influence has had a large part to play in that too. Acting, on the other hand, is never going to happen. I am far too self-conscious for that. But he has helped me navigate the stormy waters of childhood and, to be fair, the equally stormy waters of most of my life. He helped me to grow, to move past issues and to make my life mean something. He wrote books that showed people how he lived before he had to go to the white man’s school. Because he adapted, he survived, and he lived a good life as a result. A great lesson to learn and share.

My own life mirrored his, in an Irish way. I spent the first ten years of my life, minus the two that I lived in Australia which I cannot remember, in a river valley in southern Ireland. Some of it was tricky, with emotional family dynamics and accidents etc, but I lived in nature. It was my safe place. Until my family decided to move to Dublin and everything in my life changed. It also changed for my siblings. After that life became very difficult and we experienced years of challenge. Just as Standing Bear had to do, we learned to survive. I adapted and grew. His guidance gave me strength, even though I did not ‘remember’ him. But I dread to think how things might have been had he not been there all along.

The last shock of recognition I experienced with him was in one of his books. The copyright is held by one May Jones – which is also the name of my first grandaughter! So even when that blew me away again, I laughed when I read it. It was his way of saying that my writing would be taken care of.

I had finished writing this and decided to put a quote of his to finish this blog. I looked up one of his books for sake at Abe books and found a name that has been coming into my head for days. Houghton. Turns out it is the name of a publisher who published his book back in 1931. Standing Bear knew I’d be looking it up. I love that he’s still there, looking on at me with humour.

The Living Meadow: A Channeled Vision of Unity in Nature.

This was channelled material I received a few days ago, while I was trying not to feel such despair over human behaviour and world events. It was my guide’s way of giving me a potentially more helpful outlook, much as they do during readings. They spend more time focusing on what we can do rather than dwelling on what we cannot. This equally applies to individuals we are in relationship with, whether family members, friends or partners. This view, that our guides want us to cultivate, is how they view us, and how we view those on earth, when we are not physically incarnated. Bringing heaven to earth is about bringing Soul love and compassion to those who are struggling here. We come to earth with a view to helping humanity, and so our guides give us some help when we forget!

Long have we recognised man’s need for more. Long have watched how each individual strives, in their own way, to acquire what they believe to be ‘their right’.

But we are here to tell you, man has no more rights than the birds in the trees, the ants that move through the grass or the fish that swim in the water. All are created equal. All living things on earth are created from the same soul, the same rocks, the same elements. No one of Gaia’s creations is more, or less, worthy than the other.

For this reason, we come to you this day to instill in you a profound sense of connection to all living things. To every bee that lands on a flower, every blade of grass, every human being. And especially, to those you do not think deserve it.

To you we say now: Love every aspect of creation. For as you love creation, so you learn to love yourself. For those who struggle to love, or understand, their fellow humans we say especially this: extend your love to those who act out, for their pain is the motivator. Heal the pain; heal the shame. Heal the trauma that perpetrates more trauma. Those who hate need more love, not more hate. Try to see them as creatures of the earth who do not recognise that they are part of creation, with an equal right to exist. See them as needing more love, not less.

See each human being as a blade of grass in a beautiful meadow, each one standing proud and free. Visualise how the world might look if everyone understood that each had the right to a place in this meadow. That, through their roots, they were joined in a common endeavour; to expand, to show their beauty, to scatter their seeds.

Try this and see what comes of it, what ideas come to mind. See yourself as a blade of grass in this meadow and allow yourself to feel part of this wonderful creation. It is your collective creation. Your desire for a better world.

“Do this for nine days and see what changes, See how you change. Document it and witness the miracles.”

Try this and let me know how you get on. With love.

Imagining Peace.

This information came in this morning as I was getting ready to spend the afternoon with my father. It is expanding on ideas my guides have been telling me about current situations around the world and how to manage them. As usual, they see things from a different perspective to the way we do. Because we are in physical bodies, living in this world with its emotions and beliefs, we respond from those places. But, we are being taught a different way, a Soul-focused way. Seeing through the eyes of the soul takes strength and faith but it changes things dramatically.

But to be clear, my guides are not suggesting we ignore current imbalances. These situations are teaching us valuable things about ourselves, and often these events are planetary initiations, helping us to find our voice and helping us to see truth. There are so many things we don’t understand, as humans standing on the earth, but our guides know what is happening and why. And so they come to help us to empower ourselves. This empowerment is our strength and our route to soul development. It is also a way to learn how to manifest collectively. How do we want the world to look? How do we want to live? The more we heal ourselves the better the world will become. Healing is service. And so, as they suggest: look within and heal.

“Try to envision a world of peace. A world wherein each soul is aware of the pain and suffering of the other, and in so knowing, strives to bring healing and succour. Try also to see how each karmic dynamic, and by karmic we mean indebtedness (the desire to overcome past guilts and traumas inflicted on another) is working out perfectly. Try to understand how each person alive in this world is here because they chose to be here; that they chose to undergo the trials of liberation, that they chose, for reasons only they can know, to undergo the challenge of living in a certain area and in a certain life.

“Prior to life on earth, each soul choses their path. Not all succeed in their task, however, but each one is given unlimited support to do what they came to do. Other souls, who also chose to learn, forget their task and so plunder what they can, thinking this material life is all that is exists. But for those of you who remember, think about this: Imagine that your destiny was to achieve great heights but for reasons unknown to you, those strivings were prevented by another soul who does not remember. Now, you have two choices here. You can stop and bewail your failure, or you can try something else. What lessons are available? Can you let go of anger? Can you choose to love instead of hate? Can you give up seeing the hopelessness in your situation?

“To understand another’s experience is to develop compassion. To help a nation is to develop love. To love another we must first love ourselves. What you see around you is not hatred of other but hatred of self. Ask yourself: what might make a person hate himself? What circumstances have led to such self-hate? Was that person born like that? Did they come into the world with this hate? Or did it originate in his environment? The Law of Life says that no soul will go unaided in this life. No soul is left to flounder in their own self-created disaster. No soul is abandoned. The only abandonment he experiences come from himself; he abandons himself.

“And so you see how man is defending his ‘right’ to self-abandoment, to self-hate, to self-judgement. He sees himself as wronged and yet who has wronged him? Has he wronged himself? Has he created an outpouring of self-hate onto others, justifying his actions?

“Think on this for it provides a lesson around how not to abandon oneself. Current situations in the world are reflecting to you where you might be judging yourself, hating yourself, abandoning yourself. Heal this IN YOURSELF, and in time, what is reflected outside will be self-love, peace and compassion.

“Although this is very easy for us, we know it seems impossible to you. But let us tell you this: All is possible when you apply the Law of Love and share it freely. For Love is all there is. But you must bring it into your own dark places and allow it to fill you, to lighten the dark and to teach you that nothing is accidental. All is designed to teach you how to Love. But you must first start with yourself.

“We hope this will act as an impetus on your journey and that it reminds you of your true Soul task: to love, love and love again.

This is our gift to you this day.”

Musial Gifts of the Sidhe.

Further to the four gifts of the Tuatha de Danann, there are three musical instruments. The Harp, the silver flute and the Drum. Later, once you become experienced working in the Sidhe sphere, you will be given a calling horn. The horn is a decorated cow’s horn that calls the Sidhe to you. This is only given after you have worked with the three musical instruments for some time and have enough experience working with the Sidhe and their sacred spaces.

The three gifts are associated with the three worlds, or levels of creations. The flute relates to air (as noted by a gifted GME healer), and the sky. It is aligned to the mental body of the collective unconscious and how it relates to nature. The harp relates to the middle world of plants and vegetation, the world we live on and which we experience physically and emotionally; the drum relates to the earth beneath our feet, and which resounds deeply to the rhythms of the centre of the planet, and ourselves.

You can receive these gifts at any point, sometimes all together, and sometimes as a single instrument. Each instrument has its own energetic function, some more obvious than others. I will start with the one that had the biggest impact, for me, in terms of how it is used. This is the Flute/Pipe. I first received this gift at Wistman’s Wood, in Cornwall, and this is the communication I received while sitting on a moss-covered rock in the woods on the 23rd September 2005.

We welcome you to our realm. We are the Faery host collectively known as the ‘Shining Ones’. We have brought you here today to partake of our energies and knowledge. The trees you sit beneath are our kin and they share their existence with you. Humanity does not acknowledge the gifts which the trees bring to your world. We offer you a potion, made of wild red berries and white, dipped in honey and made into a magical drink. Henceforth you will be known to us by the name of Deirdre, for you carry the knowledge of the wildwoods and the Faery places.

Bring only those who are attuned to our energies, as many do not understand our work, seeing us as merely a race of mythical beings. However, we do exist and it is through us that your world has continued to live, even though your people work against us. Bring back the awareness of this symbiotic relationship and do your best to accommodate our teachings and practices. This is achievable and workable. We leave you now to continue your heartfelt journey. Drink the potion and endeavour to live a good life, in harmony with nature.

Farewell sister. We have a gift for you to take to humanity, the gift of the silver flute. You will know how and when to use it.

The Silver flute is used to create to places of sanctuary, and nature and shortly after, I learned what it was for. I went to New York. My guides had told me to go and that I had work to do at the World Trade Centre site. This work turned out not to be what I expected. While I sat in the little church across from the site, I tuned in and immediately saw a geodesic dome form around the entire site. I saw the flute and the symbols of musical notes floating towards it and as each note hit one of the polygonal facets it lit up and changed colour. Soon there was a pattern of coloured facets and I saw the inside of the dome becoming like a garden of Eden, filled with greenery; a healing place. At the time, I thought, ‘Well, that’s never going to happen’, because I thought they would simply rebuild over the site.

I forgot all about it. A few years later, my friend Cheryl told me, without realising, that they had created a memorial garden there. I could not believe it. It reminded me of the potency and power of these wonderful energies and what can be achieved when we carry these energies and allow them to work through us, doing what is needed. It also taught me that my mind does not always know and that sometimes miracles do happen.

Another use for the flute is to heal trees. In the woods were hazel coppicing was being done the hazel had been cut to just above the ground. I felt my energy shift and suddenly I was playing the flute and the notes came from it in colour and sound, little coloured notes. They floated over each coppiced tree, dancing off the cut stumps, communicating with the trees and bringing them joy again, and the knowledge that they would grow back strong and healthy. The tiny energies reassured the trees and they felt joyful. They projected an image of the future growth of the trees so they knew to grow back strongly.

The flute assists in ways we have yet to learn, but always with the intent to create nature and stability.

The Harp is the one I use the most. Not out of conscious choice, but from the elemental needs of the moment. I have written about some of the uses of this instrument on another page so will cover its earthwork uses here. When there is a particular need for the frequencies of the harp, you will be asked to choose which coloured string you want to work with. The string will indicate the energies you are going to anchor in the landscape. Again, it is your higher consciousness that chooses because we, as personalities, have no clue what any of it means, half the time.

For the first four years of my time back in the UK, from 2020 to 2024, I have been working with the red string. This involved laying a line of red light, which looked like a red ribbon, along the South coast from Worthing to Bournemouth. Chris and I did this in increments, anchoring the first part of the line/cord in Worthing by attaching it to twin Hathor pillars and then on subsequent visits, anchoring another part, along the next part of the coast and on until we reached Bournemouth, which I did with my daughter Hana. Often the red strings/ribbons were anchored around a pillar, so that it looked like a barber’s pole. This symbolises healing. The surgeons of medieval England, in their tents beside a battlefield, wrapped a bloodied rag around a white pole as a sign to others that ‘in this tent there is a surgeon’. They were known as Barber-surgeons because they fulfilled both roles.

So on that stretch of the south coast there is an energetic signal that declares to a world in pain that healing is available here. Hathor is the Goddess of Love and her priestesses used sound as a way to connect to the Divine, so this makes sense when a string from the harp is used to heal others.

The pillars and poles along the coast were of varying height and width, each composed of a different energetic function. We don’t always know why we are doing what we are doing, but we trust the process, knowing that someone does.

We anchored four poles in Worthing, each one of a different energy.

In laying these lines we are creating healing sanctuaries along the coast, a place of safety for others. I did the same by the Red Sea from Makadi Bay to El Gouna. With what is happening now in the Middle East, this makes sense, providing protection and healing for the energy lines we anchored through Egypt and providing a barrier to those energies. I am currently working on another red line in the south of Spain.

The harp also sends lines of light/sound through the lines of force which make up the spider energies, healing that which has been charged and released.

The drum has not shown up so often but when it does it is interesting. A Sidhe Being shows up with this and shows us how to beat the drum and how many times. It is energetic, but we see it happening. The resonance goes into the earth, deep into the layers of geological time, into caverns and caves. Back into a time when other evolutionary people lived. The sound travels into the past, to when grains of sand were once mighty mountains. Where memories of those ancient times can be retrieved for the benefit of us here – now. It reminds me of the LOTR and ‘drums in the deep’.

The drum helps us to communicate with the ancient past and the beings who lived in it. The earth has things to teach us about how those ancient people lived and how they stabilised their world after upheavals and earthquakes. Those memories remain in the earth, and can be shaken out by this instrument. Knowledge we can use in our present time is available when we know how to use the drum. In using it, we are utilising vibrational information, just as our human ancestors used drums to send messages and to tell stories.

In working with the drum, you are also working with the chakra points those ancient people once worked with, and which now lie buried deep in the earth. Sometimes, you can access these chakra points, or vortices, in caves or caverns and you will feel it as you pass through. But, often these vortices are deep in the rock and are inaccessible, but with the drum they become accessible. The drum allows to connect with the deep earth vortices and to work with them on that level. The instrument acts as a guide to those places so it is not something you are even conscious of. It simply happens.

The last gift is one that is given when you are ready to work with the Sidhe – at that level – and you will not know you are ready until they tell you. The reason for that is because the horn is the instrument that calls them, that gathers them together and which calls others to receive the attunements when they are ready to receive them.

Once you have received this gift, it is your consciousness that calls to them. It also shows the secretive Sidhe that you are one of them, and they will work closely with you, when you visit one of their places. They will know you have passed the tests they set for you, and that you are capable of working with them on behalf of both their consciousness, and that of the planet’s. They see into your heart, seeing your intention, and they gift their instruments when they see you are ready for them and that you have the necessary sense of service and trust to use them wisely.

Sometimes these gifts are given singly in an attunement, and at other times, they are all given together, especially if you are at a faery site. But when you have them all in your auric field, they work as and when they need to. You are the witness to it all and yet you have to be physically present for the gifts to be worked. They are in your field, and your Higher Self, (your faery self), will activate them when they are needed.

The Sidhe Activation.

When you receive this activation, you are anchoring the second diamond of this first level. The Sidhe, (Shee) are the guardians of Nature and of the Elemental worlds. They hold the wisdom of the ancestors because they understood how to work with the natural forces of creation. My Lemurian guides tell me that the Sidhe are connected to the Lemurian civilisations. An awake memory of the people who lived on ancient Mu, many millions of years ago and whose entire evolution was about nature and the maintenance of balance on earth. The Sidhe are the intermediaries between humanity and nature, and they help us communicate with the energy intelligences of the natural world. They hold the memory of how to work with Mother Earth’s soul. With this attunement, you become a cocreator with the natural world, learning to communicate and work with the Sidhe who are the masters of nature and who guide all other nature intelligences. The Sidhe will act as your guide in the realms of nature.
