Return to Flowerdown Disc Barrow

Chris and I went up to Flowerdown Barrow, Littleton, today to do some energywork, and to make an essence. Chris brought his dowsing rods so we could check out the energies of the barrow once we were finished the work we had to do. As usual, we never know what it going to happen, but this visit was very interesting. Many years ago, on our first ever visit to this barrow, I received channelling that said this barrow was one of the most important sacred sites in the area, a place where people came, annually, to celebrate and hold sacred ceremony. It held the balance of the grid, providing much needed fertility to the area and distributing the cosmic energies into the energy-lines in the earth.

We stopped first at the remains of a large sarson menhir, which came originally for a field a kilometer away, in Dean Down Drove. Again this was originally part of the sacred landscape and would have been used as an anchor for the above-mentioned energies. It has some interesting features and sparkles with tiny crystals, which, it was impossible to capture.

I placed the bottle on the stone and Chris was ‘told’ to walk around the stone three times, in a sunwise direction. Yet, he felt that this stone was more lunar than solar and still it needed to be anticlockwise, in the direction of the sun’s movement, which is the masculine-opening direction. When he had finished, he saw that sparkles of lunar-light were rising up from the stone in a wave-like pattern, but again they were linked to the moon. He was aware of a lunar goddess, but with an Egyptian flavour, and she was dressed in a lilac-blue dress. She was related to the Full Moon. This is the preliminary energy that went into the essence bottle. More happened later in the main disc barrow.

(Side note: When we are doing earthwork, when doing it with other people, we can often see images of people, just as Chris did with this Egyptian lunar goddess. Sometimes, these ‘people’ represent real people and the energies they are bringing or working with. As soon as Chris mentioned the Lunar feminine, I knew he was seeing a part of me and the energy I am bringing to this work, in this moment. It became clearer when we began working on the disc barrow. Sometimes, people will appear to Chris and I know who they are because I have just given them a particular energy which Chris is picking up on, as will become clear in the next blog. Once, when we were working in Hook, in Co. Wexford, I was doing the energy work on the shore and Chris reported seeing a druid with his arms raised to the sea calling the energy, which is what I was doing. But I was not speaking, so Chris had no idea, thinking he was seeing a spirit person, or guardian, doing the work. The more you work with energy, in these dimensions, the more you begin to recognise another person’s energy as different to the true spirit guardian of a place. The guise you are seen in holds information however. In that case, I was working as the druids worked, calling in the elemental and the waves. At the barrow, I was obviously utilising energy from my Egyptian training with the moon, even though I have no conscious memory of that).

Back to today: When Chris walked around the stone, clockwise, on the third round he suddenly felt a shift that made him feel dizzy. (I had the same experience on our next visit, having done the same). He had shifted energetically to be in tune with the necessary energy level of the site. His feeling was that this stone was connected to lunar cycles and ceremony, which would explain why we never experienced energy from this stone before. it was active only at certain times, as if it released energy only at those times.

This lovely sparkly lunar energy went into the bottle, which I had placed on the stone and then an apple went in to. Apples represent the knowledge of the Divine Feminine. This part of the process was finished so we proceeded to the main barrow only having to walk once anticlockwise around the smaller one which lay between the Sarsen stone and the disc barrow. As we walked towards the smaller one, we were both aware of feeling the stone’s original position in the farm where it was taken from, half a kilometer away. It had been a satellite stone but removed by the farmer to the museum in Winchester and then placed here at the barrows. It was as if the stone had left an energy memory in its original position and was letting us connect to that.

Flowerdown Disc Barrow.

Standing on the outer bank of the barrow, I was instructed to place the essence in the centre of the barrow itself. Next, we were told that Chris had to walk sunwise, the masculine solar direction, around the barrow bank. While I had to walk anticlockwise in the feminine direction. Three times we had to walk, Chris walking a sunline and me walking a lunar line. These looked like a band of yellow light, and a band of white light, each flowing in the opposite direction. We each did three rounds, at the same time, meeting at the same point each time. It reminded me of work I did at Castlerigg, in Cumbria with my friend Cheryl, five years ago. That was also to do with opening time, but I did not understand that at the time. (I’ll write about that if i ever find the time!)

Once we had done the three rounds, we stood in the centre of the barrow, where I had put the bottle. The energies of the energy lines we had walked went into the bottle. Chris said that the yellow solar line he was leaving behind him as he walked, looked like a wavy yellow curtain that was higher in come places than others. for him it was like sound waves. It was only when I was replaying the recording that I realised I had been singing quietly to myself as I did my rounds. Did that have an effect on the energies we anchored, I wonder?

Once this work had been completed it was time to focus on the essence. The bottle of water remained in the centre of the barrow while we had done all the walking, so it was already primed with whatever energies we were activating.

I saw a beam of sunlight move down and into the bottle of water and then saw the Brigit cloak laying over the site, following the contours like a layer of emerald green energy. Then I became completely distracted by somebody’s rather clever wind turbine. It was on their house and looked like some kind of vortex. I’m easily distracted! But the layering had happened anyway.

The emerald energy of the cloak acts as both a layering of that energy, holding the site at that frequency. The emerald green, of course is a clue too, as it is the crystalline energy of all growing things, that lovely emerald of trees and plants, the emerald layer of the Mother’s crystalline field. The cloak protects the area, keeping it flowing with energy and under the Goddess’s protection. (For those of you who hold the Brigit cloak/mantle in your energy-field, you too are under her protection and receive her emerald nurturing).

The solar beam was a thin golden thread and it made the sparkles from the stone’s energy, already in the water, even more vibrant, enlivening them. Chris was aware of a vortex-like cone drawing the energy into the bottle, concentrating it. Then we were told to walk around the bottle in a smaller circle, again Chris going in the sunwise direction, and me going in an anti-clockwise direction. It was while we were walking these smaller rounds that I realised we were working with cycles of time. The three larger rounds, around the outside of the barrow, related to the solar year, one round per year. The smaller rounds in the centre represented the moon cycles, lunar months. I still don’t actually know what that means, but to a part of me, it makes some kind of sense.

I was very aware of the significance of doing the rounds in sets of three, however. Six on the outside of the barrow, large circles, (years? Ages) and six inside, shorter ones, like phases of the moon. Three walked by Chris, and three walked by me. I kept thinking: 3.6.9.12. Cycles, years, days, weeks, months. The common denominator was obviously three. Did the three outer rings signify ages? And the smaller inner rings shorter periods of time? I don’t know. But it meant something.

Now the lunar light, from the smaller circles went into the bottle. Solar, and lunar, time. A huge green crystalline dragon appeared then, a translucent sea-green colour, and it put three of its crystalline tears in the essence, straight from his eyes. Crystal teardrops. It felt like a kind of dragon healing, healing sadness, and then Chris reminded me of the tears of the phoenix in Harry Potter and how they healed wounds created by the basilisk. (He loves Harry Potter).

Next three teardrops from the Obsidian dragon also went into the essence, but this time it was about healing really deep grief, things that are so deeply entrenched that they need particular help. Healing the depths, trauma, loss, etc. The harder-to-get-to stuff. Once again, we were struck by the significance of the number Three.

Chris had brought his dowsing rods to dowse how the energies looked in the barrow. They spiraled out from the centre, occasionally becoming smaller vortices, and then continuing. But they spiraled out in a serpentine fashion, the line wavy rather than straight. But this only happened the further out the spiral Chris walked so the serpent line really began close to the edge of the barrow, close to the ditch.

At one point, while I was still standing in the centre of the barrow, my guides suggested I focus on bringing in a stronger solar ray and then to watch what happened. I said nothing to Chris, but did what they suggested. I visualised the strong ray entering the centre of the barrow and saw it radiate out through the lines. Immediately, Chris began to pick up many more vortices in the line he had already dowsed and which had been just a wavy line before I sent the solar light out. It was as though the solar light created a change in the pattern of light travelling through the main spiral. It reminded me of the patterns carved into the stones of Newgrange and Knowth, in Ireland.

This was all we needed to do here, but last year, when my guides told me to bring Chris here they also said we should go to The Running Horse pub at the other end of Littleton. I felt there was something underneath the pub, an energy point or something. It had taken us a year to get to this so we followed last year’s instructions and went for a coffee, and a rather delicious raspberry and rose soft drink! We did not detect anything of an energetic nature but as we were leaving, walking across the carpark, Chris bent to pick something up. It was a large piece of a jigsaw puzzle. When he turned it over it had the number Three printed on it.

I love this work!

If you are interested in the essence you can find it here.

Flowerdown Barrow

A few weeks ago, I had a sudden impulse to take a different route to my father’s house, (every time I write My Father’s house, I think ironically of the biblical heaven, which it clearly isn’t) and went through Littleton, in Hampshire, passing Flowerdown Barrow as I did. Passing the site, I felt a connection to the barrow, which then anchored itself in my lower hara centre, behind my navel. This is my energetic connection to Mother Earth the human energy field. The connection looks, to my inner sight, like a gold cord, vibrant and alive.

I wondered what I was supposed to do with it. Two weeks later…

5th September.

This morning was one of those mornings when I had no desire to do anything. Usually, my mornings are filled with a routine: reading for an hour, somatic exercises, then breakfast, followed by a shower, and then writing for a bit, or getting some shopping for Dad. On mornings when my time feels empty of purpose, I have learned that that is when I need to go out and walk – there is energy-work to do – somewhere.

I drove in the direction of Barton Stacey, still unsure of my destination, until the idea to visit Flowerdown popped loudly into my head! I had wanted to visit the stone beside the barrow there since I had a dream about menhirs a month ago. The dream showed how outlying menhirs were anchors of fertility, like electricity pylons, creating an anchor for the energies of the larger sites that control fertility, such as stone circles and disc barrows. They are erected on a line of energy from the main site and then that energy is transmitted into the surrounding landscape, adding energy to the land.

This is very much the same as having acupuncture to keep your body’s meridians flowing. The energy flows, unhindered, through your chakras. These chakras, or ‘wheels’, distribute the energy throughout your body, filling it with vitality. When the tissues are infused with higher vibrational energy, the body is healthy and can do what it was designed to do.

Stone circles ‘contain’ the energy of the land, which is brought into it from the solar energies at specific times of the year. It is channelled into the energy point below it, or into underground waterways, which then feeds the surrounding countryside, like a chakra point. But a circle only has a certain radius. The way to get around this is to place outliers, menhirs, which can hold an energy line from the circle and radiate it into its locality. One circle, either stone or henge, can have many outliers at a certain distance from it, and I imagine, the tall individual standing stones would have stood within a certain area and also be used as territorial marker stones, or signposts. They might have had multiple uses, but their primary purpose would have been as an energy transmitter.

Thinking about that, it makes me wonder if the menhirs also signposted the proximity of a sacred site? The people back then would have known and understood the function of the Menhirs, and would have also known how to use them to find their way to sites or settlements.

The stones, stone circles, and barrows do the same for the landscape as acupuncture needles do for the body. If the energy is flowing well, the fertility of the soil means better crops and healthier livestock. The sarsen in Littleton, which had been found in 1906 in Dean Down Drove, would have been connected to the Flowerdown Barrow, the largest barrow in Hampshire and, according to ‘Upstairs’, one of the most important sacred sites in the prehistoric area of modern-day Hampshire.

The stone itself is beautiful. It is a golden sandy colour and might have stood at least a meter higher if the top had not been broken off. I also found some interesting markings on it which maybe someone can explain to me. There are many scratches on one surface, which makes me think they could have happened during the move to Chilcomb Museum. But there is a definite lozenge carved into the surface. Again, it could be accidental, but equally, it might have been intentional. You can see these lines in one of the photos below. The lozenge seems to be part of a bigger pattern but the stone is quite damaged here too.

The stone is obviously not in its original position, it was moved originally from Dean Down Drove, which leads off from the barrrows, but I can find no evidence of the stone on old OS maps so it might have been buried under years of mud and vegetation. But there is also a hole which has been bored low down on one side, which I initially thought was a core sampling hole, however, it is too shallow and too wide. Could it have been used as a gate post, perhaps at some more recent date? That is what it reminded me of, yet there is no record of a stone anywhere near either of the Dean farms, where, I imagine, the drove-way lead to – or from… The hole might also have been caused by rain but I would have thought there would have been more, in that case…

On this particular visit, my job was to connect the stone to the disc barrow, as I imagined it was originally connected before it was moved or had fallen over. But first, I had to walk anti-clockwise around the first barrow, something I had not done on all my previous visits. Halfway around the barrow, I became aware of a woman in handwoven, woollen clothes standing on top of it. She watched me, as I went around, and I got the impression that she was waiting to see if I knew what I was doing. She continued to watch, while I finished the round.

I was then told to create a lemniscate, the infinity symbol, by walking anti-clockwise around the disc barrow, joining the two barrows. I’m always curious why things happen at certain times. I have been coming to this barrow site for nearly twenty years and only now are these two barrows being connected. As I came close, to where I started walking around the larger barrow, I felt energy rising which to me feels like excited anticipation. Sometimes it makes me want to exhale forcibly, but not this time. I have to say, feeling energy that way is one of the things that makes this work so enjoyable. It is as though I am doing what I am supposed to do, working with the landscape the way our ancestors did. In that moment of rising energy, I am the ancestors.

As I completed the round of the disc barrow, I stopped to take some photos and then heard ‘Complete the circuit’. I realised that I had not gone back to the beginning. There was still about two meters to go. I completed the circuit, as instructed, then walked into the centre of the barrow. I was immediately aware of the emerald energy but it was coming in with a blue ray, like sapphire. I have worked with Sapphire before but I’m still not sure where it fits. I asked what this ray was and was shown a blue dragon descending through it. Aha! The blue dragon is water, rain. My immediate thought was, ‘Haven’t we had enough of that?!’ (As it turned out, the land in parts of Littleton floods when the winter bourne rises).

The emerald energy above the sapphite tube represents the energy of vegetation so in that context, it made sense that the blue dragon would descend down a column of sapphire. You can’t have vegatation without water.

Once this energy had been fully anchored, I moved off the barrow. As I approached the other, smaller burial mound, I heard: ‘A message for you.’ The woman in her reddish-brown, shin-length dress was there again. She wore a blueish tartan-like top, all handwoven, and was old, her hair yellow-white. She would have been fair-haired when she was younger.

As she looked down at me from the top of the mound, she held out a package wrapped in soft brown leather, tied with a leather thong. ‘Take this,’ she said, ‘And guard it well.’ She placed a yellow flower on top of the package, which looked like a dandelion, or cat’s ear, then added, ‘For the chosen one.’ I took the package, knowing I had to pass it on to someone else. Then she said, ‘For you.’ And she gave me a bottle, the lower rounded half wrapped in a leather casing, like a bottle of sweet wine, or Sherry, from Spain.

She then went on to tell me that she was a Mother in the local community, which now lies beneath Littleton … somewhere. As I was walking away, she stood and waved, but now she had her granddaughter with her, reminding me that her daughter was a spiritual leader within the community and that she herself was teaching her granddaughter, just as the Neolithic ancestors had done. It also made me wonder if both hers, and her granddaughter’s, ashes were in the smaller barrow. It also made me think there was a subtle message there too about teaching my own granddaughters…

Later, I wondered if the single yellow flower represented the energy of this ancient Down (a Hampshire word meaning a chalkland hill) which had been called Flower Down. It has been called Flower Down for centuries, possibly because of the profusion of wildflowers that grow on chalkland, and it has been called that since before 1750. It was originally used as common land to graze animals, and therefore never ploughed. This is why the barrows were left alone and undamaged. It must have been beautiful if they called it after the flowers that grew there, the land fertilised by all the animals. After the Enclosures Act, a patch of land, with the barrows on it, was allowed for the villagers; the rest was owned by a landowner. Thankfully, he left them that part, or we might not still have them and all that information would be lost!

Continueing my journey to Dad’s, I passed hte Running Horse Inn and had the thought that I should have breakfast there one day, that therre was something beneath it that needing accessing. So, next Sunday, we are going to check it out. I’ll let you know what happens.

If you are ever in Winchester, pay Flowerdown Disc Barrow a visit, and tune in. It is a wonderful place, as many Wintonians can vouch for. I know some of you already know this stone, and these barrows, very well indeed.

Return to the Magdalene Flame in Sparsholt. March 2023.

Doorway into St. Stephen’s Church, Sparsholt.

When I said it was finished, I really thought it was. But this morning, with half an hour to spare on the way to my father’s, I had a sudden impulse to stop at St. Stephen’s Church in Sparsholt again. Actually, I had an impulse to explore the little road that turned to the left and which led to it, but then I made a snap decision and parked in front of the church gate instead. As I walked towards the front door, I questioned why I was there, when I had already done the flame. Was something else needed? Had I forgotten something? It had felt complete at the time, but as I know from experience, energy gets layered, so maybe this was one of those extra-layer-things.

Inside, all was quiet, so I returned to the altar where I could see the Magenta Flame burning steadily. As I waited, I felt that familiar sensation of energy activating in my lower Tan Tien and my energetic cord connected to the flame. Next, I had the same sensation in my heart, as it too made an energetic connection. Lastly, my third eye connected and as it did I noticed that the cords were like lightning and I was receiving the MF(Magenta Flame) energy along them. I had never had this experience before and wondered what it was about when I felt my own MF expand and become as big as the one in the church so that we matched in frequency.

I began to receive information that this flame needed to be anchored somewhere, and heard ‘Across the Water’, and something about a lake. Then I remembered a message I had received a few days ago about a lake, and told not to forget Padua. Padua is in Italy, but did they mean literally a lake near Padua, or a church dedicated to an Italian saint who came from Padua and which is beside a lake here in the UK? I have no idea, but thinking practically, I imagine it was the latter. I have been wrong before, however. That’s the problem with trying to decipher the meanings of events before the event happens. I had made the same mistake at St. Catherine’s when I didn’t understand the Bull image. At the time, I felt it had to do with the symbolic reference to the four saints which I have seen carved into other small churches. But it was simply a reference to the name of the place: Bullington. Although it was St. Michael, so I might have been half right!

Once I felt the energy stop, I gazed at the line of white stones someone had placed on the step right in front of the altar and beneath them, scratched into the step as if someone had accidentally scraped a layer of paint from the surface, was a shape that looked like Italy. As ridiculous as it sounds, and because everything means something, I wondered if it might actually mean there would be a visit to Padua, in Italy. I thought of my aunt, who lives in Sicily. I had planned to visit her there, so maybe I could also go to Italy … when I am free of current obligations, that is.

I felt myself being turned around. This is an energetic turning, not being physically turned, as if my energy-field is turned and I have no choice but to follow it. When I turned and was facing the other end of the church, I heard “Go.” And that was it. Done and dusted. But, I was so very aware that everything that happens while doing this work has layers of meaning, so they might also mean that I had to go to the lake, that it would soon be time to ‘go’. It would also explain the necessity for the larger than life recharging of the Magdalene Flame.

I wandered around, finding a little area with a wooden statue of Mary, or St. Catherine. I’m not sure which. I saw a picture when I came into the church which mentioned a chantry chapel dedicated to St Catherine. I wonder if this is the same St Catherine that they dedicated the church in Littleton to?

When I got to my father’s, while he watched rugby on TV, I Googled churches near a lake near with Padua. I found Saint Anthony, a popular saint for Catholics. I remember him well. Whenever anyone lost anything in Ireland it was praying to Saint Anthony that helped them find it. Anthony loved Padua, it was his spiritual home, and there is a large lake ninety kilometres away from the centre of the city. There is also a basilica there dedicated to him. The message “Across the water,” also implies crossing the sea, so we’ll have to see what they mean. If it really is in Italy, then I have time to wait. If, on the other hand, it is local, it might be in the next couple of weeks.

Either way, I’ll find out.

Later that evening, I was telling my friend Chris about it. He often comes up with interesting bits of information. but while he was mentioning lake Garda, I remembered wanting to do a Life Between Lives therapist training at Lake Garda a few years ago. But I ended up back in the UK, then Covid hit and my father needed me, so I put Lake Garda away. Looks like it was the right place, and definitely not the right time. Buy maybe the time was approaching…

I also remembered that before I had left the house earlier in the day, I had accessed the Tibetan Dai Ko Myo energy. I often get the impulse to raise my arms to bring something down and this time I found I was holding the symbol in my arms, guiding it into my crown centre and energy-field. I usually use this symbol when attuning someone to Reiki so I thought it might mean that.

In the church, the Magenta Flame transfer felt like an attunement, although why I was being attuned to an energy I had put there in the first place was beyond me. Perhaps it had something to do with the symbol itself. When I brought it in, the two arms of the ‘Y’ were my arms and the jagged little symbol between them was a lightning energy – which explains the lightning arcing from the flame to my three centres – and the spiral was in my body. Usually, when I use symbols that have spirals they coil around my Tan Tien, like serpent energies, otherwise known as Kundalini energy. Kundalini energy is earth energy but this energy was coming from above, not from the earth. Yet its job is to activate and open. (I often find with energy symbols that the little horizontal line on the top of a symbol represents the mind. So this symbol is like energy that comes into the mind while the arms bring energy through them, which connects at the heart and then activates the lower Tan Tien, otherwise known as the Dan Tien).

Not the best drawing without a tablet but you get the idea.

Also known as the Dragon’s Breath, it is supposed to represent the Kundalini flame, cleansing and purifying the chakras. Lightning, for me, has always been about cleansing negative energy, and I use a technique using the Lightning bolt of Neptune which does this when I am holding too much of other people’s energy. So, I’m guessing that my three centres, the three tan Tiens, upper, middle and lower, needed cleansing by the Magdalene Flame in preparation for holding more of that energy. But to what end I do not know and why I should need that is also a mystery. But, I’ll find out one way or the other. I usually do.

All I have to do now is wait for the personal healing that is bound to come with it!

PS. Nearly all the small churches in this sequence of activations have female Rectors, which must be significant, especially when the Magdalene Flame is about healing the wounded male consciousness. Many of the wardens are also female.

The Brigit and Magdalene Flame. Part Three. St Catherine’s Church, Littleton.

Driving through Sparsholt again, I noticed, as I came out of Crab wood, over 1.19 km away from St Stephens’ church, that the Magdalene Flame I had anchored only a few days ago, had energetically expanded. It now covered an area of over two kilometres in diameter. I was surprised at how fast this had happened but as I drove closer to the church I felt my Hara centre (behind my navel) activate. I was making a connection to the flame via an energetic cord which stayed with me as I drove past, elongating like an elastic band.

Extent of Magdalene Flame

As I passed the church, this sensation became stronger but now I knew that I was taking that connection with me to put someplace else, but as yet did not know where. I continued on to Barton Stacey intending to take the small side road that would take me closer to the road I needed but instead, I was told to “take the long way”. I did what they said and continued on towards Lainston House crossroads and again, I was told to “go straight ahead”. This was the old road to Littleton village and as I came closer to the village I knew why they had sent me that way.

St. Catherine’s Church is another one of those churches built on a mound. Originally a Saxon church, and perhaps before that another sacred site, the church was built in an area of ancient sacred significance. It lies only five hundred meters away, to the north of the Flowerdown burial mounds: three Bronze Age burials which were also the site of ancient, important ceremonies.

Flowerdown Barrows

Still feeling the connection in my stomach, I made my way into the church and headed towards the altar. This church had a lovely village-y feel and once again, I had the awareness that it was well-loved.

As I walked towards the raised platform, I heard my guides say, ‘put your hand on the Altar’. My immediate reaction was: ‘I can’t do that! What if someone comes in and sees me?’ Old fears die hard, I realised. I was still seeing the altar as the domain of the priest, a figure of authority from my Catholic childhood; a male authority. When I resisted, again I heard ‘Put your hand on the altar.’ There was no way around it. I glanced around, just to make sure there was no one else there, and placed my right hand on the white cloth of the altar.

As soon as my palm touched it, I heard ‘my Higher Self say ‘I consecrate this church to Mary Magdalene, disciple of the most holy Jesus Christ; Mother of all and purveyor of all good things.’ A bit religious, I thought, but later realised that she was the feminine to his masculine. They are archetypal energies, after all. I don’t work with religions but symbols and archetypes are contained in them too. I see these personalities as energy thought-forms rather than physical beings, even if they once did have a physical life on earth, even if not the life we are told about.

Next, the Magdalene Flame appeared and it became the magenta channel. This channel, which looks like a hollow tube, sits behind the altar where the person who leads the service stands. It goes from the floor to above somewhere and always reminds me of the transporter in Star Trek.

I can only assume that the person standing in the beam, leading the service, will be influenced by the Divine Feminine energies anchored there. A previous visit to the Catholic cathedral in Arundel showed me how regular ritual service builds up a channel of energy which also allows energetic information to be accessed. All sacred ritual builds power and if the same intention is held every time, unchanged, like the blessing of the bread and wine, etc, then that energy will be perceived and read by others.

Once the channel had been established, a sword appeared inside it, its point towards the earth. (The sword means many things. In earth working it is often the tool that opens or closes energy vortices. It is also a mental, masculine energy, bringing with it higher thoughts, the balancer of emotional energies). Around the top of the tube, a white feathered serpent, like the white dragon energy, began to twine down around the outside of the channel, moving towards earth. But as it got closer to the altar it changed to blue and wound itself around the magenta channel. A spear then appeared inside the channel and it held the serpent like a worm on a fish hook, anchoring it to earth. This was definitely not what I was expecting. The serpent looked like it was writhing, much as eels do when hooked and brought onto the riverbank and trying to escape captivity and certain death. The spear is one of the tools of the Tuatha de Danaan and this is a use for it that I have never seen before, although it is an energy which connects other energies so it shouldn’t have come as such a surprise that it was anchoring a serpent.

The spiritual energy of the white serpent had transformed into an earthier blue, and the resistance to that transition was apparent. Yet, I knew that this process was necessary. Sometimes it is a challenge to materialise spiritual beliefs and there is often resistance to that process. It is so much easier to keep spiritual ideas and desires in the ether, rather than actually act on them. It is as if these particular beliefs will have to be pinned down, the blue force pinned into place, like water through a funnel.

Another aspect of the ‘white’ becoming ‘blue’ is that the blue serpents represent water energies; the serpents that run through rivers, estuaries and between sites of sacred significance. I am thinking here of two of which I know: Winchester and Salisbury cathedral.

The white serpent is a spiritualised energy, usually existing on higher levels of the earth’s energy-field, like the earth serpent’s higher-consciousness. The white holds the ‘plan’ or the template for healing, which the blue serpents materialise.

There are two possibilities for this serpent achoring here:

One: the serpent represents a person who carries this serpent energy and can work with the water energies, but who will initially experience resistance and struggle to bringing in new ideas. In older times, ‘Druid’ priests were known as adders, perhaps because they were able to work with the fertility energies of water. I have known female rectors who have held both Christian and pagan beliefs and they struggled to reconcile those two apparently opposing systems.

Or Two: it represents the energies which bring water fertility, such as rain and rivers and that this is the way these serpent lines have always been anchored. Think St. George and the dragon.

A flash of a Bull’s head appeared, which turned out to be a message that I would understand later.

Later research on the history of this church yielded some interesting information. The original dedication of this church was to Mary Magdalene. It was changed, over a hundred years ago, after renovation, to St Catherine of Alexandria. So, it would seem that today’s dedication was really a rededication to the original energy.

Mary Magdalene

I also discovered that this church was one of nine in the Manor of Chilcomb and it was ordered, by Bishop Henry de Blois, to pay revenue to the priory of St Swithin and the Hospitallers of Jerusalem. The revenue went towards entertaining guests, and feeding the pilgrims to St Swithin’s shrine.

Again, there is that Jerusalem link but now it places it in Templar history too. Mary Magdalene was also a venerated saint in the medieval period and there was a leper hospital dedicated to her on the Alresford side of Winchester. Bishop Henry was apparently also the man who created the stories of Merlin and dragons, and the stories of the Grail, and thanks to him the stories of the Grail entered popular consciousness. In all our earthwork in the UK, and in Paris, his energy has always played an important role and he is usually a reliable sign post.

Once I felt the work was finished, I left the church, stopping to record a robin ‘chatting’ with another robin in a distant tree. They were definitely having a conversation! I couldn’t see the other bird; it was in a tree someplace else, but it was a lovely reminder of frequency, in this case ‘sound’ travelling between two points.

As I drove out of Littleton, I had a clear image of the church in Barton Stacey; the next dot to be joined. But that would have to wait until I had more time.

I didn’t have long to wait…
